In "The Intentional Disciples of Jesus Book," I suggest a framework for Christian discipleship I have named “The Way of the Lord” using the phrase found in the Old and New Testament
"The Way of the Lord" is a mental model emphasizing one allegiance to God, two purposes (living Jesus' life and fulfilling His mission), three roles (worshiper, disciple, and member of Jesus' body), and four guiding beliefs (the supremacy of God’s kingdom, the primacy of grace, the sufficiency of the Holy Spirit's power, and the transformative path of the cross). The model concludes with five daily practices to deepen discipleship.
This material is found in part two of the book (Part Two - Following the Jesus we see)
Chapter 7 - Two Purposes: What do I live for? My purpose or God’s?
Chapter 9 - Four Guiding Beliefs: Making sense of this crazy world
Chapter 10 - Five Daily Practices: Intentional Discipleship every day
This mental model aims to help regular followers of Jesus transition from a surface-level understanding of God to a transformative relationship characterized by active participation in His kingdom.
